Today we had appointment at ASC, Mexico City.
My wife’s appointment was with an old DS-160 and then we recently submitted another DS-160 due to an error in the passport number.
I could not update Appointment with new DD-160 online as the site do not let you do so once the appointment is confirmed.
But happy news is that, ASC can do an update to the appointment with new DS-160 and that was not an issue at all. So guys,
do not cancel your appointment if you want to change the DS-160. Simply go to the ASC on the appointment day with your new DS-160 and they will update it for you.

Please do not request for expediting passport pick request without valid reason. Seems like many requests are denied.
Please keep 5 working days gap after interview date for return ticket , just to avoid any last minute change in flight. Ticket price are astronomical.

Here is a little more feedback on my visa appointment process, hope it’s helpful.

- What to do you do for Salesforce (just title of my job was enough, didn’t need to explain)
- Not a question, but re-confirmed previous employment details
(that’s it! In general, the process is very smooth, and everyone is very helpful. Only thing I would recommend is to try harder for requesting the passport pickup soon, which I missed and didn’t get a pink slip while others got at Mexico City)

(other than DS-160 confirmation and appt letters you need anyway)
When did you get your passport? Got the passport back on May 6th! (May 5th was a holiday for embassy so it was relatively quick even without a pink slip) For me, ASC and DHL locations are the same. So, though I was supposed to wait until passport is “processed” and arrive at the ASC location, I was able to talk to people at the Embassy and request the passport earlier citing travel reasons (print out of the flight ticket helped here, and Jorge helped a lot in the process as well)

You should keep looking. I found evenings on Friday/Saturday/Sunday to be generally good for finding availability though other people mentioned mornings 7am to 9am cst working better for them

- Check for US embassy holidays in mexico (I didn’t know May 5th and May 10th are holidays. I would’ve planned my schedule differently if I knew ahead)
- Always request for early passport pickup at the end of your interview (you’ll get a pink slip if approved)
- You can get covid test results done at the Airport, if you run into any issues before that (which I ran into)
- Always check back at Embassy (whether or not you received pink slip) regarding passport readiness after the interview. You may be told that it will not be ready soon, but someone else will likely tell you differently.
- Don’t forget to have the immigration card (FMM) ready before you board the flight back to US.
Oct 8th 2019 : E3 & E3D visa renewal
Update: my families has just finished E3D visa renewal yesterday and was pretty straight forward. The visa got issued today and collected passport this afternoon.

My case is bit diffrent than most of the H1b petition holders here.
1. I am.in usa for close to 11 years.
1.Dui in 2013 0.09 BAC
2.visa stamped in 2014 in Jamica did panel of physician test in 2014 stayed in Jamica for 14 days and visa got stamped.2019 visa got stamped in Mexico city .
1. ASC Finger prints appointment on 24th Saturday completed in 10 mins .
2. Consular appointment 26th Monday 8.45 am
3. Reached consulate around 7.30 no electronics are allowed back packs are allowed as long as they only have documents
4. you and documents will be scanned similar to airport , no need to Remove shoes just Belt .
5. after scan you will be directed to waiting hall where you have local agents directing you to sit in the chairs
6. you will be directed in to the standing line according to the wait times they will redirect you to the available consular officer/visa officer.
7. This is where you meet the consular officer.
8. Questions asked to me by officer.
a) which company
b) Which state you are travelling to
c) how long you been in states
d) Can you explain about what happen in 2013.
e) I explained it saying it was a Honest mistake.
f) VO: ok good , did you do panel of physician test
me : yes officer i have them from my previous stamping , if you would like to see i can pass them over along with certified my court clearance documents and police report .
g) vo didn’t say anything i kept quite because he didn’t tell me whether he need them or not .
h) Vo: place your right hand 4 fingers on the Bio-metric scanner
i) Passed me white slip saying your visa is approved follwe the instructions on white sheet your passport should be ready in 3 to 5 business days
J) greeted the officer and i came out of the consulate 🙂
by the way officer gave my 1797 back and said he didn’t need it and kept my passport . came back to Hotel and check the status says Administrative processing. i have been told to pick up the passport from DHL office.
In and out of consulate any where between 30 to 45 mins visa interview 3 mins max . Hope this helps for people who are looking for information

Just an update yesterday I completed my Visa interview and consular officer told visa was approved and we site generally showed administrative processing and today status changed to “Issued” may be by Thursday I might get my passport in my hands .so if you see administrative process after your visa interview and approved no need to panic its general processing
