Please help to explain process for pickup from asc or consulate or DHL etc., aMake sure to ask the officer about the passport pickup in case of emergency appointments. I was given yellow slip which says 5 to 7 days for delivery. I didn’t check that at the counter, later I had no chance to go back. visa status was not updated to issued up until 3pm next day. I was nervous about that as I had flight booked. I went to the consulate to see if it was ready for pick up and it was even though status was still showing as approved online.

Accommodation is really good, close to the town center and consulate. Little advice, carry cash and credit cards(Visa). (Apple Pay doesn’t work in all the stores)

Tried Monterrey first since last visa stamp was from there but EA was refused so filled another application and paid another DS160 fee for Tijuana.
Booked Monterrey non emergency appointment on June 12th. Submitted Monterrey EA request on June 13th. Request denied June 14th citing “only accepting emergency appointment requests for residents of Mexico. You will need to request an emergency appointment in your home country or keep the appointments that you already have”
Booked Tijuana non emergency appointment on June 19th. Submitted Tijuana EA request on June 19th. Tijuana EA request accepted June 23rd.
Please share any tips you think will be useful for getting emergency appointments (or) non-emergency appointments?
Follow the recommendations provided by Venkat and his team for best locations to book for EA, doctors, different visa types etc
Any feedback you want to leave for our team (or) any suggestions for upcoming clients.
- Carry your wallet if small enough to your consular appointment or at least some cash or debit/credit card in case you have to pay additional fees. I was glad I did because I wasn’t expecting that.
You can check
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country.html - If you book a backup appointment at other locations remember to cancel those once you have your passport with visa in hand.
- When entering Mexico by foot, the Mexican immigration officer asked me where I was going to stay (mentioned the location of the hotel) and duration of stay (told him 2-3 days). Filled out the usual immigration arrival card and the entry date was stamped in my passport on the page across from my expired U.S. visa. I did not have a valid Mexican visa or FMM card (which I was nervous about), and was not asked to show any other documentation but I had no issues getting into Mexico. I realized the experience with the Mexican immigration officers at the border can be hit or miss because for some other individuals I spoke with in the group who crossed a few hours before me, the officer looked at their passports and handed it back to them without stamping because he said they did not have valid visas (American or Mexican); didn’t ask many questions but also didn’t have a problem with them crossing into Mexico however.

On 13th May (next day) at 2:00 PM. Picked up from the consulate. Although the pickup location on the appointment confirmation was the ASC location, the consular provided orange slip(s) and asked to collect the passport and visa on the next day.
When and where was your last time stamping in passport?(location/ year) Kolkata, India, 2018
When did you start visa stamping process for mexico? Around last week of March, 2022.
Please share any tips you think will useful for getting emergency appointments (or) non-emergency appointments?
Use the samples provided in usvisastampingmexico.com as a starting point and modify based on your own situation. In our case, since my wife is working on healthcare related IT we argued that her job is critical and losing her job could disrupt the work at her company. Additionally, we mentioned that we had applied for visa renewal and H4 EAD extension as early as we could but USCIS is talking between 9 and 17 months to process.
Any feedback you want to leave for our team (or) any suggestions for upcoming clients
The service has been exceptional in all aspects right from the beginning. Everyone in the team has always been very helpful, answered all questions, provided timely information and arranged all things as needed. Both me and my wife have only been impressed at every step of the way and how everything is being managed in the Whatsapp group(s). Based on the feedback from others and our own experience with Raul, the drivers in Mexico are also awesome. They have always been exactly on time, very kind and accommodating to the clients’ needs. So, thank you very much for all your help, and congratulations to you for putting together a great team that is working effectively. My best wishes to the team as you scale up (which seems inevitable) and I’m confident that you will maintain the same effectiveness.
To clients –
- Take all the documents (it’s always better to be over-prepared for these things): Passports (current and past), DS-160, appointment letter, I-797 approval notices (current and past), I-140 copy, Employment verification letter, last 3 months paystubs, EAD cards, proof related to your emergency appointment request, Marriage Certificate, Degree certificates/transcripts, petition copy, W-2.
- Don’t carry your documents in Harmonica / multi-partition folders. They will not allow you to take such folders/document holders inside the consulate. A clear/transparent folder with a single pocket is probably the best option.
- For vegetarians/vegans: Options are limited but not that bad. If you are staying in or around Fiesta Inn Express Monterrey Centro, Pizza Hut (Veggie Lovers pizza) is just 2 mins walk. You may also go to Hare Krishna Resturante (https://www.facebook.com/harekrishna.restaurante/), which is about 5 mins by car. We also found the food from VeganMunch (https://www.facebook.com/veganmunchmx/) to be very good. You can use Ubereats to order from VeganMunch. Everything at VeganMunch and Hare Krishna Resturante is guaranteed to be vegan.
- There are a few stores like Oxxo and 7-Eleven very close to Fiesta Inn Express. So, if you need to buy water and/or snacks, you could purchase from these stores. Raul was kind enough to take us a nice super-store (don’t remember the name) on our way to the hotel from the airport from where we were able to pick up some water and food for the night we arrived.
- Finally, although not critical, it may be useful to carry some Mexican Pesos. We convert $50 to Pesos at MTY airport, which was sufficient.

Sharing details of Visa interview from another client & feedback from Mexico City – non-emergency appointment
Timeline of this client:
H1B stamping details
Apr 26th 2022 : Client contacted us. Our team created individual group for guidance
Apr 26 : we helped for paying visa fees in Mexico banks
May 2nd : Booked non-emergency appointments and found dates for May 4th at Mexico city
Here is a little more feedback on my visa appointment process, hope it’s helpful.
Your first name : Venkat
Appointments location : Mexico City
Appointments dates: May 4 (Same day ASC and Visa interview appointments)
Current visa stamped in passport category H1B
Previous visa in passport: H1B
Questions asked during interview:
- What to do you do for Salesforce (just title of my job was enough, didn’t need to explain)
- Not a question, but re-confirmed previous employment details
(that’s it! In general, the process is very smooth, and everyone is very helpful. Only thing I would recommend is to try harder for requesting the passport pickup soon, which I missed and didn’t get a pink slip while others got at Mexico City)
Documents requested:
- Original I-797A Approval document
- Employment verification letter
(other than DS-160 confirmation and appt letters you need anyway)
When did you get your passport? Got the passport back on May 6th! (May 5th was a holiday for embassy so it was relatively quick even without a pink slip) For me, ASC and DHL locations are the same. So, though I was supposed to wait until passport is “processed” and arrive at the ASC location, I was able to talk to people at the Embassy and request the passport earlier citing travel reasons (print out of the flight ticket helped here, and Jorge helped a lot in the process as well)
Is this emergency appointment (or) non-emergency appointment ? Non emergency
When did you start visa stamping process for mexico ? Late April (I was lucky to be able to reschedule my Mexico appt from August to May 4 within just a week.)
When and where was your last time Visa stamping in your passport (Before attending in Mexico) ? India
Please share any tips you think will useful for getting emergency appointments (or) non-emergency appointments?
You should keep looking. I found evenings on Friday/Saturday/Sunday to be generally good for finding availability though other people mentioned mornings 7am to 9am cst working better for them
Any feedback you want to leave for our team (or) any suggestions for upcoming clients.
- Check for US embassy holidays in mexico (I didn’t know May 5th and May 10th are holidays. I would’ve planned my schedule differently if I knew ahead)
- Always request for early passport pickup at the end of your interview (you’ll get a pink slip if approved)
- You can get covid test results done at the Airport, if you run into any issues before that (which I ran into)
- Always check back at Embassy (whether or not you received pink slip) regarding passport readiness after the interview. You may be told that it will not be ready soon, but someone else will likely tell you differently.
- Don’t forget to have the immigration card (FMM) ready before you board the flight back to US.
+1, I echo the same thoughts. This team has been super helpful in not just getting the visa stamped and picking up passport. They’ve been there for me (and others here) every step of the way and took great care to make sure everything went smoothly. Language was a bit of problem in different places and Jorge and team stepped in when needed. I couldn’t have done this well otherwise. @Jorge Mexico City Team is a rockstar. He is not just a driver, but a thorough professional in every way. He is very calm, composed, fully understands the entire process and always suggests based on what is right for you. I can’t thank him, Ernesto, Venkat, Ivan and the rest of the team here enough. THANK YOU!

** Emergency Reason ***
Hello Officer,
I am xxxx , studying in 4th Semester of under graduate course in xxxxx Engineering from University of xxx at. I am are currently staying on H4 dependent visa. I am writing this to get an emergency appointment for H4 Dependent visa stamping. Due to COVID risk, quarantine rules, COVID test requirement, time to travel, availability of flights and availability of appointment dates I can’t travel to my home country India.
I need to apply for F1 and convert to F1 as I will be aging out. The current F1 processing time in US is over 1 year. I have to complete two semesters on my F1 visa to be eligible for OPT. I have invested a lot of time, money and effort to get into the university but if I am unable to get my F1 visa on time, I will not have OPT and there will be no opportunity for me to gain relevant job training, seriously impacting my future career prospects.
Please consider my request for an emergency appointment for H4 Visa stamping any time before April 30th 2022 so that I can start working on my F1 Visa after returning back to US.

Attended ASC on 02/07
Interview on 02/08.
Question asked:
What is your employer name?
What is your annual salary?
Are you working directly for this employer?
VO said there is an with PIMS database but took my passport and told me don’t worry and he didn’t ask for i797 or any other documents… just took my passport. PIMS issue has been cleared on the same day but passport has been issued next day due to visa printing delay.
In Matamoros, we were around ten people and all of us got visas approved with the stupendous help of Ernesto and Venkat and especially the time we spent with Ernesto there.
We didn’t see any issues interns of safe or food or whatever it is.
At CBP Brownsville border:
It is generally taking between 1 to 2 hours at CBP Brownsville, TX.
They asked my passport, i797, address proof (I have given DL). About the Address proof… they need your current address info. Hope this helps you
